On Saturday 13th April, go to The Crooked Elm on Laings Rd from 10am to sign-in and pick up your event pack, which includes a race number for each member of your team as well as your map and clue-sheet for the checkpoints. Make sure you’re there in plenty of time to sign-in or register & to complete gear check. Come early, enjoy some coffee and plan your adventure!

What do we need to bring?
All teams must carry:
- a charged cell phone
- a minimum of one water bottle per team
Adventure Teams must have at least one fully charged smart phone with data that has downloaded the Goosechase App.
Helmets are compulsory for all team members using wheeled transport. These provisions will be checked at registration, and non-compliant teams will not be allowed to participate. No refund will be given.
It is strongly recommended that teams also carry:
- any personal medication for team members (e.g. inhalers, epi-pens)
- additional water and snacks
- plasters, sun protection and
- a spare tube and pump (if riding bikes during the event)
- warm clothing
We recommend that participants using bikes or scooters have them safety-checked prior to race day. Participants are responsible for ensuring that their equipment is of a reasonable standard and appropriate to the event.
What will you supply?
We'll supply you with:
- Race packs with your race numbers and all additional race information
- Toilets, water and sunblock (available at the start)
- Some mechanical support will be available at the start/finish
- Free fruit on the finish line
- Race checkpoints are located in many cases near toilets and water opportunities.
It's recommended that participants carry a personal water bottle with them and use these points to refill and stay hydrated.
Trained first aiders and basic first aid supplies will also be available at the start/finish/transition, and at key checkpoints.
Where's the course? How far? What terrain?
The answers to these questions are all up to your team! You choose the challenges you complete, and how to travel between them, so long as it's 'people powered.' Bikes, scooters, prams or balance bikes are all fine, motor vehicles, buses and Lime scooters are not. Take shortcuts if you know them, take coffee breaks if you want them, or race non-stop. The event is as hard or as easy as you make it.
Each Family Explorer map will show about 50 checkpoints, worth varying amounts of points. It's up to you to choose the checkpoints that suit your team best.
As a rough guide, most teams get to around ten - there are lots to give your team options. It's up to you which ones to aim for, and what route to pick between them. You can take shortcuts, go cross-country or go the long way around - it's up to you.
Exception: SH2 is out of bounds at all times.
You are responsible for your safety and that of your teammates.
Ready, Set, Go!
You have two and a half hours to get to complete as many challenges as you can. Family Explorer teams must submit their code sheets by 1.30pm at the finish to be eligible for spot prizes and results.
